Google has announced the acquisition of Quickoffice, to let you do more with Google Docs and Apps. Here’s what the company had to say about it today:

We’re happy to announce that we have acquired Quickoffice, a leader in office productivity solutions.

Today, consumers, businesses and schools use Google Apps to get stuff done from anywhere, with anyone and on any device. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we’ll be working on bringing their powerful technology to our Apps product suite.

Quickoffice has a strong base of users, and we look forward to supporting them while we work on an even more seamless, intuitive and integrated experience.

We’re excited to welcome the Quickoffice team and their users to Google.

The company builds native apps for iPhone, iPad and Android and Symbian, so its safe to say that Google’s suite of products will now become native products on your mobile phone:

Its suite of apps each have a “Pro” counterpart that come with a cost, and it will be interesting to see if Google will still charge for them, or offer them as part of its Apps package for businesses.

The mobile space is getting red hot right now and companies who focus on specific problems and finite products are going to start getting acquired left and right.
