How to read your Swiggy and Zomato payout statement

Most owners look at one number, the amount that hit the bank. The statement is trying to tell you far more.

A Zomato settlement statement does not start from your menu price. Commission is charged on the commissionable value: your item total, plus packaging, minus your own restaurant-funded discounts, before customer GST. On top of the service fee sit 18% GST on the fee, a payment charge, and tax collected and deducted at source, some of which is recoverable or simply passed through from the customer. Read every line and the statement stops being a mystery and becomes a scoreboard, with take-home as the single number to track.

It doesn't start from your menu price

Commission is charged on the commissionable value: your item total, plus packaging, minus your own restaurant-funded discounts, and before the GST the customer pays. Promotions you funded reduce the base; packaging adds to it. On a typical account this lands close to, but not exactly on, your item subtotal.

The service fee is a clean percentage of that base

On the accounts we manage it runs as a flat rate applied consistently order by order. That is the line most owners mean when they say commission, and on its own it is predictable. Your own statement is the source of truth for the exact rate.

Then the stack begins

On top of the service fee sit 18% GST on the fee, a payment-mechanism charge, and tax collected and deducted at source. Some of these are not true costs: the GST on commission is a recoverable credit, and a chunk of the tax is collected from the customer and passed through. Read raw, the deductions column looks alarming; netted correctly, it is smaller than it appears.

Watch the additions and adjustments

Cancellation refunds, promo recoveries, and prior-week corrections all land here, and they are the lines most likely to hide a quiet error. This is the section worth reconciling against your own order log every single week.

Track take-home, month over month

Everything above resolves into the share of gross order value that reaches your bank. Track that percentage over time and the statement becomes a scoreboard. Reconciling every line, on both platforms, is where restaurants quietly lose lakhs a year.
